I traveled to Los Angeles August 5-6, 2017 to attend the Cynosure Masters Conference. This conference brings together some of the top utilizers of the MonaLisa Touch laser. Here we can collaborate on techniques and new uses. Cynosure continues to sponsor such programs with the goal of spreading practice excellence.
Dr Mickey Karram, director of urogynecology at the University of Cincinnati, headlined the conference. He was one of the first users of the MonaLisa Touch in the US, and continues to be a huge proponent of its use. He presented his current research involving treating lichen sclerosis with MonaLisa Touch, and the favorable outcomes he is seeing. Our patients know we have been treating lichen sclerosis with the MonaLisa Touch for over a year, but now everyone will have the benefit of being treated on a University of Cincinnati protocol, without all the biopsies!
Dr. Peter Weiss, a gynecologist and co-founder of the Rodeo Drive Women’s Health Center in Beverly Hills, was also presenting. His name may be familiar from The Doctors and The Doctor Oz Show. He trained the physicians in our practice when we first purchased the machine.
Discomfort with external treatment was discussed. I was able to instruct the other physicians in attendance about the compounded topical anesthetics Life Studios is using with great success. It was amazing to be able to contribute something at a conference of luminaries in the business!
The physicians at Life Studios continue to be strong proponents of the MonaLisa Touch procedure. As Dr. Karram said, “it’s a game changer!”
